'Pillars in the mud'. Rotterdam
In 2007 I was asked to participate in 'Pillars in the mud 2'. (An art project by Hugo Lammerink) transform 1 of the 12 pillars in the art space 'locus010' Rotterdam, together with 11 other artist. I chose a pillar which as an remarkable communication with an outside church tower and I started to "talk" back in dimensions and forms.

Rotterdam pillar 'before'
2007The 'before' situation is always very interesting because we don't know what is going 'to be' or going 'to happen'. When I walked in the building and saw this specific corner pillar and the outside view I knew what was going to happen. This is one of my typical way of looking at "sites" and knowing what I have to do. The round pillar is not fitting in the space and the square beams and the outside chruch tower is demanding that (to me anyway). So, a transformation was needed.

Rotterdam pillar 'After'
2007After finishing the work I just could'nt be more satisfied, its a typical art work by me. The 'after' "situation" is balanced and the deeper meaning of it all can be found in minimalism, post-,minimalism and land-art. Explaining that all here is not going to make sense and 100 pages of philosofie is not holding up anybody attention. I hope you just enjoy this piece I did in 2007.

Rotterdam Pillar
2007In 2007 I was asked to participate in "Zuilen in de bagger" (an art project by Hugo Lammerink) and the subject was to transform 1 of the 12 pillars in the art space 'locus010' Rotterdam, together with 11 other artist. I chose a pillar which as an remarkable communication with an outside church tower and I started to "talk" back in dimensions and forms. To start to "communicate" with an outside structure was a result of lacking communication inside with the other 12 artists of who I met maybe 4 and just 1 was talking back in a nice manner.
