The key of this artwork is about the exploration of the desire to be able to shut oneself off for a while, like the pause button on your remote control. When COVID-19 hit the world, and lockdowns and mandatory quarantine became a reality. People responded to this differently and have gone/are going through this with different experiences and emotions.
This art work intents to dialogue with the feelings of anxiety (ICamilio has an diagnosed anxiety disorder) and explores the desire that some of us have for a pause button, to go into hibernation and sleep through it all.
Because of this, Camilio explored this emotion by building a hibernation box. While some people freak out on the idea of a box , for others the idea of going into hibernation is to go to a safe space away from the world/anxiety. The box is comfy, protected and light inside with windows.
The making of the hibernation box included playing with the idea that it could be working for real, but is not intended to explore a medical/scientific experiment (if at all possible).
